I object to Louisville being called a Southern city.* Granted, it’s not uncommon to hear a Southern drawl from some of the city’s inhabitants, but Kentucky never seceded from the Union and a large part of the Louisville area is in Indiana, a decidedly Northern state.
That being said, I don’t object to Louisville being called a delicious city, so I encourage all my friends to vote for Louisville in Southern Living Magazine’s “The South’s Tastiest Town” competition.
*My objection has nothing to do with disliking the South. I love Southern people, Southern food, and Southern literature. I just like being precise with cultural and geographic labels.
