I finally got to take Julie to Kale for kahvaltı. Everyone I know who has been there agrees: it’s the best Turkish breakfast in Istanbul. We met my friend Çağan, who is finishing his last year at Boğaziçi University, and we enjoyed catching up with him.
If you go, order the serpme kahvaltı and enjoy unlimited glasses of çay and a special fried cheese from Cyprus. The bal kaymak (honey and clotted cream) and the wonderful Bosphorus view are worth the price alone.
