My name is Michael Butterworth. I’m from Overgaard, Arizona but have lived in Louisville, Kentucky long enough to call it home. I used to live in Istanbul, Turkey and remain fascinated   with Turkish culture and history.

I enjoy drinking/making coffee, making/listening to music, riding bicycles, and reading about theology.  I also like blogs that talk about those things. I work at Quills Coffee and write for The Coffee Compass. I’m married to a wonderful girl named Julie, whom I love madly.  Most of all, I love Jesus because his gospel has changed my life.

Stumbled upon your blog while looking up some stuff on St. Augustine (your old blog), great thoughts, thanks. Heading to Istanbul this summer for a week, any advice on what to see to truly experience the culture?

    • Wow. Istanbul in one week: so much to see and do. I would recommend a Turkish breakfast at Kale followed by a visit to Rumeli Hisarı. Also don’t miss Istanbul Modern Art Museum for one of the best collections of Turkish Art.
